thesis animatic

So I've been working on preproduction most of the quarter for my thesis. Here's some animated storyboards which should give a better idea of what my film is about.

newest demo reel

Dreamworks made a recruiting trip to RIT last week and I got an interview with them to discuss my work and future career? This is what I showed them.

party animals

Here's a couple paintings I did recently. They are characters I created for a class this past winter but never really had the chance to have fun with.

demo reel

Demo Reel from Melissa Tierney on Vimeo.

Ah the always in progress demo reel. This is my most recent one to date. It is more of a general, all around reel, rather than focusing on one particular area. I think it's pretty fun. If you have any feedback I'd love to hear it. I'm hoping to get a pretty solid reel together to take to siggraph with me later this summer.

This is what I worked on for the majority of my second year at RIT. It was a collaborative project with Adam Du Shole. Adam worked on the 2D elements of the film and I did the 3D. It was definitely a new experience trying to combine the different mediums, but I couldn't be happier with the results. Our aim was to make the animation and story fun, playful and action packed. I'm definitely interested in doing more work combining multiple formats of animation.

We got a little bit of recognition for this work. It was selected for the school honor's show and they used our film for the publicity images. We were featured in RIT News! There was also a little nod to our film in the Rochester City Paper. it was also selected into the Rochester High Falls International Film Festival Women of SoFa program. Hopefully there is still some recognition to come!

A little project I worked on with my roommate in our free time. We had the camera around and decided to do a pixelation. I had never worked like this before. Learned from some mistakes, but had a lot of fun doing it. Hopefully more experiments like this to come.

death of blogspot?

I have neglected my blog for quite some time now.

I'm currently working on creating a new website to replace the current one : http://cias.rit.edu/~mat1988/ I plan to keep this a more formal viewing of my work.

I've grown a bit frustrated with blogspot's tiny resolution, terribly slow upload times and poor quality of video. I am going to be posting any animated/video work on my new vimeo page: http://vimeo.com/melissatierney I'm going to try to post the vimeo links on blogspot as I can, but for better resolution (vimeo has HD!), the vimeo page would be the place to go.

I still plan to post some still images here though. So a few different clicks will show you what I've been up to. one of these days this will all be organized...

currently finished with classes and about to start work on my thesis project. more details/work on this to come.
